Extraction of primary teeth

Our aim is to preserve the primary teeth in a child’s mouth for every time span through which they are programmed to remain.

However, there are incidents of injuries or highly damaged teeth that cannot be restored and it is decided that they be extracted before their natural time of exfoliation.

In this case and if it is deemed necessary, following the extraction a space maintenance appliance is placed into the child’s mouth in order to maintain space for the forthcoming permanent tooth.

Another instance of frequent extraction of primary teeth is that of the lower primary incisors, in the case when the respective permanent teeth erupt and both of them reside in the mouth (double row of teeth).
